Aims & objectives
We have adopted the following mission statement :
“Riversmead is committed to providing a high quality housing service and affordable homes for the local community .”
We regard a decent place to live as the cornerstone of people’s lives and communities. Housing is a fundamental part of social policy which seeks to alleviate disadvantage and underpins health, employment, education and social opportunities.
Riversmead exists to ensure that local people who need affordable housing, not only have access to such housing but also have access to high quality management services.
With this in mind we have set ourselves the following objectives:
To ensure the effective and efficient use of existing assets
The maintenance and efficient use of existing homes is essential to meeting the long term housing needs of the community and effective maintenance policies ensure that the useful life of the properties is maximised and provide high quality homes for our residents.
To provide additional affordable housing for those in need
Riversmead is committed to assist East Herts in meeting their target of 200 additional affordable homes across the district each year.
We operate in an area which provides very significant challenges due to the limited land supply. We aim for a modest development programme for 2007 / 08 with the programme increasing in 2009 and beyond. We recognise that there is a need for affordable housing in other areas where we manage homes and we will be seeking opportunities to develop affordable housing in areas where we have stock already in management.
To provide effective and high quality housing for our residents
Maintaining Riversmead’s reputation in performing to high standards of service to our customers is considered as the highest priority. Our standards of service performance are seen as evidence of our commitment to our tenants and of the commitment and hard work of the staff.
To provide vibrant and thriving places to live
Riversmead is acutely aware that the well being of our residents is influenced by the strength and vibrancy of the community and neighbourhoods in which they live. We are committed to work in partnership with others to improve the social capital of the community.
We will seek partnerships with other members of the Local Strategic Partnership. Emerging initiatives include crime reduction, vulnerable adults' services and general community facilities where joint funding is being proposed. Our activities in 2007 will pull the various strands of activitiy together under a more coherent framwork in order that we may review our effectiveness in this area.
To maintain a robust organisation
The association is acutely aware that meeting our customers’ needs and aspirations is essential to the long term health and viability of the organisation. We also recognise however that to do this successfully requires a robust and stable platform for delivery.
